vBarter - New Account Set-up Fee

A good practice for a new account set-up fee, if you will meet with the members or speak with them by phone, and provide them with business consulting services so that their benefit in being a member of a barter exchange will be maximized, you should charge for your or your salesperson’s time. A good start pint is $195 for the forst 100 members, $295 for the next 100, $395 for the next hundred, and so on, till you reach $695 or so.

You can always negotiate a lower account set-up fee, or take 50% of it in trade. You can even give the new member a guarantee that you will bring them $2500 in new business that they would never have had in the first 90 days, or they will get a 100% refund of the account set-up fee.
